Pretty Pines

Hi stampers!  So, there was some discussion on some Stampin' Up forums that I'm a part of about using black on a Christmas card.  Some people just couldn't see using black on a Christmas card, ever!  Personally, I think it works great!  I suggested just trying black as an accent and challenged myself to make a card and this is what I came up with!  I think it's perfectly festive and the black adds a nice pop!

I'm also really in love with real red, emerald envy, and lemon lime twist for Christmas!  I wasn't sure about lemon lime for Christmas but I think I'm sold!  You can also mix metallics!  I used copper for my bow and gold for my pinecone!

I also think black and white Christmas cards could be quite elegant!

Which camp are you in?  Will you be using black on Christmas cards?  If not, I hope you'll be inspired to try!

Happy stamping!

Text Ya Later

Hi stampers!  So, I've failed at stamping and blogging the past two weeks!  What can I say, life has been busy! My mom and step dad came out for a week over Ian's birthday and then my momma rode back with us to her house where we've been even busier!  He got sick for a few hours the day before we were to come back so I'm so glad it passed quickly!  We went to the Illinois State Fair Friday as is our tradition and had SO much fun!  If you're here for the card only, you can just scroll to the bottom but I enjoy sharing our life now and then.

Ian is 3 now and almost 40 inches!  That's taller than 93% of kids his age, lol!  He's super funny and super smart and excited to start pre-school a couple of days a week at the end of the month.  He is still really picky about eating so we are going to try some therapy.  I have no idea if it will help bit at least we will have tried.

Here's some pictures of Ian's little party (it was just the 5 of us but I wanted to decorate and make it fun) and our trip to the fair.

He loves Moana so we went with a little Moana theme.

He loves the farm cat!  I'm super sad I'm very allergic or we'd have one.

He was dying to ride the skyway at the fair, he's a brave boy!  G&G are in the background there :-)

In a fun coincidence, Grandpa Bingamon was working the at the fair with a fire truck!

And then, I took Ian to Decatur to see his other two sets of grandparents and stay the night with my dad and step mom.  We don't stay there often as they have a lot of stuff...ahem...I come by it honestly ;-)  But they are building a new house and cleaning out so it's easier to stay now, yay!  And I may be going home with more stuff than I came with...cough cough :-)

If you're ever in Central Illinois, Decatur has a great little zoo, Scovill Zoo!

And then we drove back to the farm.  It's usually pretty relaxing here so I'm hoping I can finally put my feet up for a few days before we head back to Oklahoma :-)

Picking tomatoes and eating them even though he hates them lol!

And now for the card, it's pretty simple and I cased it from the catalog.  I love the text ya later set and I haven't given it much love, oops!

Fab Friday 118

Edited:  For some reason my post was not live and wasn't linking from the Fab Friday site or showing on my blog.  I'm so sorry if you came looking for it.  Technology hates me sometimes!

Hi stampers!  Happy Friday!  Summer is flying by!  I feel like I missed it with my broken foot but hopefully it's getting better.  My x-ray didn't look great but it's feeling ok-ish (lol) so here's to hoping!    And Ian turns THREE tomorrow!  He's also starting preschool two days a week at the end of the month and I'm equal parts excited, nervous, and sad about it :-)  Anyway, let's keep summer going with a bright and summery color challenge over at Fab Friday!

I made a pretty simple card because I was busy getting ready for my momma to come visit for Ian's birthday!  I grabbed the sunshine saying stamp set and sunshine wishes framelits because I've seriously neglected them!  I thought they would work great with these colors and they did not disappoint!

I tried mounting my melon mambo panel behind the stitched square and it didn't look right.  I put it on the diagonal and bingo!  I cut a few of the mini dimensionals to adhere my die cut.  I love how small they are but they aren't THAT small :-)  And because I know people will ask, (lol) the little black accents are from the oh so eclectic stamp set.

I hope you like it and I hope you'll play along with us!  We'd love to have you!

Carols Of Christmas Foil Frenzy Cards - Stampin' Up Global Artisan Design Team Hop

Hi stampers!  I know it's always Christmas in July but today we have Christmas in August!  The Artisans are at it again with the Carols of Christmas stamp set and card front builder thinlit dies.  We hope to inspire you to purchase these and get a head start on your Christmas crafting!  It's really never too early for that.  Every year in December, I wished I'd started just a little bit earlier :-) Customers can get them RIGHT NOW!  And remember, when you buy the bundle, you save 10 percent!

Take a trip around the globe with us and see what we've got for you.  Don't forget to use Google Translate to keep up with what's going down!

What I really love about this bundle, is how well it works with things already in our annual catalog!  I went pretty traditional last time with my cards so I set out to do something a little less traditional this time around.  As I was browsing my supplies, I noticed that the soft sky foil frenzy paper with the dots looked like falling snow!  And then I realized the lemon lime twist sheet with the triangles looked like little Christmas or pine trees, does it not????

For my peace on Earth card, I went with a soft sky and tranquil tide color combination.  I think it's a bit non-traditional but still kind very wintery!  For my ribbon, I just ran a strip of adhesive down the middle of my tag and put my ribbon down on it, looping it around the way I wanted it.

I had to use the deck the halls stamp on the "Christmas tree" card!  And I thought the ornaments were the perfect touch with the greenery.  I think these little ornament dies get overlooked for some of the "cooler" die cuts in the set but they are totally cute!  And I love that you can cut three out at once, so a total of six in one cut!  I'm all about the efficiency!  I actually pulled out the SAMJ to stamp the little accents in tranquil tide, can you believe it?  ;-)

I also really love the color combo here of garden green, lemon lime twist, and black.  The sentiment stands out nice and bold!  Lemon lime twist may be my new go-to Christmas color!

I also really love the little boxwood embellishments.  They are so cute.  I just unwound one here and cut it to the length I needed it.  I then attached it with a few mini glue dots.  My ornaments looked kind of naked just hanging there :-)  Problem solved!  Our mini glue dots were PERFECT for popping them up.  They are my favorite thing in the whole catalog!  A couple of rhinestones were the finishing touch!

I do hope you've enjoyed my projects and I'm sure you're going to enjoy Miriam's when you visit her in the Netherlands!

Here's a handy list as well ;-)
